Monki organic nut butters are produced by Horizon Natuurvoeding BV, a company which was established in 1978.
Horizon specializes in the manufacture of nut butters and is an importer and wholesaler of nuts, dried fruit and seeds. Besides serving the significant Dutch home market, Horizon exports to many European countries.
We import virtually all the organic nuts and seeds ourselves. In many cases, the raw materials come from our own projects or from projects in which we participate. For example, the hazelnuts come from the Good Food project in Turkey. Horizon is one of the founders of the Good Food Foundation, an organization whose objects are to initiate, support and manage organic farming projects.
The range of Monki organic nut butters comprises 14 varieties. Apart from the 330 g consumer jar for all nut butters, and an additional 650 g jar for peanut butter and tahini, all products are supplied in bulk sizes of 3, 10 and 200 kg. The manufacturing process usually includes the following steps: roasting, mixing where necessary, grinding and filling.
Monki organic nut butters carry the EKO logo, which is issued by Skal in the Netherlands. Inspection is accordingly to EU Regulation 834/2007.
